R. T. Lund grew up in Duluth, Minnesota, the gateway to the North Shore of Lake Superior. When he was twelve, three teenage brothers from his neighborhood were swept into the lake from a concrete pier during a raging Spring gale. None of them was ever recovered. There began his fascination with the awesome, unforgiving lake.

Lund has worked as a lawyer and corporate CEO, but at heart he is a storyteller, a Minnesota mystery writer, and the big lake has a role in each of his stories. Her mother worked as a bookkeeper for her father’s company; they were never married. Shortly after she was born, the Nazi’s commandeered one of his factories to make war machinery. He left Germany and became a courier for the French underground until he was captured and executed around 1940. Less than a year later, she was told that her mom had died of “natural causes”.(less)

Once the rich guy has a successful transplant of the young man's kidney, he breaks off the engagement and abandons both the nurse and her son. Ultimately, she sues him but, unfortunately, never gets any satisfaction. A lawsuit with this fact situation was reported in Duluth, Minnesota. I incorporated some of the background and ideas in THE GHOST.(less)

The Trilogy is Complete

In anticipation of the release of "Avenging the Dead," the third and final installment of my Lake Superior Trilogy, later this week, I have entered "The Ghost," the second book of the trilogy, in a Goodreads Giveaway (five signed paperbacks) that will end on December 4th. Although "Avenging the Dead" is a compelling standalone thriller, it is most satisfying when read after "Who Are You?" and "The Read more of this blog post »
