I certainly remember that initial phone call from St. Martin’s Press telling me that they would be publishing my first novel Digital Fortress. I was thrilled simply to be published, and the fact that they were printing only a few thousand books did n See Dan’s answer.

More of V.A.'s books…
“Our mind is nothing but accumulated thoughts-good or evil recorded from the day the child is born. For memory or thought to work, a brain is needed. Software cannot work without a hardware. When a computer is damaged can we believe that its software is still somewhere in the sky? How can memory or thinking faculty exist outside brain? The neurotransmitters are responsible for the thought process and memory retention and retrival. All are elecrochemical impulses which cannot travel to sky. Our personality, individuality etc. are result of the accumulated thoughts in our brain. It is quality and nature of accumulated thoughts which decides if one is to become a scientist, poet or a terrorist. A guitar in the hands of a layman does not make any sense. If it is in the hands of a musician melodious tunes can come out. A child in the hands of lovable and intelligent parents go to heights.”

Robert G. Ingersoll
“It is a thousand times better to have common sense without education than to have education without common sense.”
Robert G. Ingersoll

Thomas Paine
“I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. 'Tis the business of little minds to shrink; but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death.”
Thomas Paine

Sam Harris
“Almost all our suffering is the product of our thoughts. We spend nearly every moment of our lives lost in thought, and hostage to the character of those thoughts. You can break this spell, but it takes training just like it takes training to defend yourself against a physical assault.”
Sam Harris

Michael Shermer
“Religious faith depends on a host of social, psychological and emotional factors that have little or nothing to do with probabilities, evidence and logic”
Michael Shermer

V.A. Menon PULSATING WORDS
http://www.blurb.com/b/4131944-pulsat...
by Roopa Menon
A collection of poems. The book contains poems on various subjects which are close to human life. For example the poem "A thousand deaths" describes the agony of a mother who agrees to donate the organs of her only child who is brain dead after an accident. The poem "The kindest piece of paper" narrates the expression of gratitude of a person to a lady who once helped him when he was poor and hungry. Like these all other poems are sure to touch your mind as you read them(less) "
