American Bule follows the Kardashian-esque US billionaire family, the Lipmans, as they are in Indonesia for business and pleasure.
Their long-suffering butler, Raja, handles everything for them, from parties, to making their mistakes go away, to being the "bagman" when the Lipman son is kidnapped in Bali.
Finally, the family set sail on their mega-yacht for Los Angeles, via Honolulu. When they are shipwrecked in the South China Sea, washed up on a deserted island, roles are reversed and Raja takes charge. The Lipmans have to develop as real people in order to survive natural disasters, drug pirate attacks and a traitor in their midst as they await rescue.

Through her amazing ability to play football, 17-year-old Cindy escapes the rural poverty of Indonesia to become the first female to play in the Men's English Premier League. Along the way she fights racism and sexism. There are exciting but ultimately disappointing relationships, before meeting her wonderful American man. Fame and fortune come to her, and the World Cup finals are on the horizon.
