Lexy Duck spent decades helping other people communicate: designing and producing materials for government agencies, transit authorities, and financial institutions. She was very good at it. But the story she was waiting to tell was her own.

After she retired and her sister — a published cookbook author — finally convinced her to sit down and write, The Tattered Black Book emerged. It began as a question about family history with no answer. The facts were gone. So she invented the story: a love that was forbidden, a secret kept for sixty years, and a Lenape Indian boy who dared to do what one girl’s father deemed unforgivable.

She lives in Daytona Beach, Florida. She is currently at work on her next novel.

Lexy Duck My dream has been to follow Karen Blixen & Ernest Hemingway to Africa. And that dream may come true this fall if Covid allows us to travel.
