The author was born and spent his early years on a large family farm along the James River in Surry County, Virginia. Here he was instilled with a sense of history, of not only family but of the people of the past across the river at Jamestown, or in the fields he walked on the farm. Here he began to listen and learn to tell stories. He moved to Hanbury Road in Great Bridge, in Chesapeake when he was six, bringing with him a farm-fueled sense of wonder and quest to explore. The children he met in his days in Great Bridge sparked different dreams and the tales captured in his first book highlight those carefree days.
