One sci-fi universe. Infinite possibilities.

Andrew’s works are high-concept works that attempt to answer questions about human nature in science fiction settings. Could slavery happen tomorrow, based on historical patterns? How do normal people justify and rationalize their roles in an oppressive system? He provides psychological insights through entertaining, futuristic worlds.

Having recently published Models and Citizens and the short story collection Gemini Book, taking place in the same universe, Andrew is currently working on the second book of the Reality Gradient series - Bodhi Rising.

From a small town like many of his characters, Andrew grew up in Texas but currently resides just outside of Seattle, Washington, with his wife and two

Usually, my "best book" is whatever I happen to be working on because I always love writing, and exploring human nature is a fun pastime.

I like the main character from Bodhi Rising a lot, and I even like who Harper turned out to be in it better than she was in the Models. She's truly risen to the occasion, and is a dynamic and powerful force in the sequel, whereas before, she was a little bit of a sad sack. Models had the difficult task of forming the world, not just for the readers, but for me as well. I had to "build" the world for Bodhi Rising (for it to work as a standalone), but not invent it again.

I hope that came through in the writing and that I improve with every effort! (less)

If that's you, then the other piece of advice that I have is draw a line in the sand. You will never be done working on your novel, but if you want anyone to see it, you'll have to be done enough to let it go at some point. It's better to work towards something.(less)

Christmas and Community

Hey parents, don’t read this around your children if you want them to believe in Santa. There are a few spoilers in here, not just of Santa, but of other traditions as well. I hope, however, that you will continue to read through, as these wandering thoughts do come together toward the end. So…without further ado…much ado about Christmas…

A long time ago, there was this fledgling little religion, a

This short book is a sweet story about learning how to budget. It says what it is, and is what it says. And is executed *perfectly*. I loved this book.
