Anne Rice and The Mummy
It took me years to get around to reading The Mummy (Ramses the Damned) by Anne Rice simply because I was writing my own novel - The Rising: Awakening - which is also set in Egypt with the appearance of Ramesses (yes I spell it like that because I'm British) and vampires and didn't want Anne Rice to influence it.
