Mixing the real-life horror of human monsters with a touch of the supernatural appealed to me. I came up with the idea of a train robbery gone wrong and turning into a slaughter, then Rory Daggett, the sole survivor, growing up to avenge his parents.
The only problem is Noose Holcomb, the titular villain, has essentially disappeared. When a member of Noose's gang surfaces, Rory reinvigorates the search to take the gang down member by member to get to its heart.
Rory growing up as an orphan is such an integral part to the story that I had to play into that with the introduction of a new character who aids in his journey.
Noose was a blast to write and I've my toes back into those waters a few times to pen some short stories that will be released throughout the summer and fall of 2022.(less)
