Back from Autumnal bliss

Back in the UK, I'm not enjoying the recent rainy weather, but do appreciate we really do need it. While at our little French home, Les Hirondelles, during the summer and latterly, this October, we have experienced some really hot and dry weather. This followed on from a lack of decent snow during the winter. The result is that the major lakes in the area, Lac Castillon, Lac d'Allos, Lac Serre Poncon and Lac St Croix are suffering badly. We hope that things turn around soon.

On a brighter note we had a rental in late September; a lovely young couple who wanted Les Hirondelles for a week as part of their honeymoon tour. I'm pleased to report they loved it and, as 'mountain runners', apparently managed to run up the highest mountain in the area (Mont Pelat) standing at 3,052 metres in 54 minutes, though they were starting at 2,230 metres, at Lac d'Allos, the highest glacial lake in Europe. Even so, think I'd have collapsed with exhaustion after the first two metres!! They were also so considerate and looked after our little house as their own, leaving it spotless for our return a few weeks later.

Have been working on book number two and finding myself going rather slowly due to the fact I keep re-reading what I've done and changing things. At least I've gone over the 30,000 word mark now and as the weather is getting decidedly grotty and cold, should have the impetuous to bang on with it.

Speak soon, and in the meantime, stay safe, well and happy.
