Erika Isabel Murray-Theron was born on 1 Oktober 1941 in Greytown, Natal into a school teacher's family. She studied Psychology and Afrikaans at the Universities of Stellenbosch, Pretoria and at UNISA (BSc.hon) and also obtained a diploma for special education.
She worked for the Labour Department, lectured at UNISA's department of psychology, where she later did freelance translations and was editor of a local monthly newspaper.
She also taught Afrikaans as a stand in at - among others - Afrikaanse Hoër Meisieskool in Pretoria and at Menlopark High.
Erica works as a translator and regularly writes for different journals.
She lives with her husband, the engineer Tom Theron, in Pretoria and they have five children. ...more
