Grown Men Don’t Cry
Book 3 in the “MAC’ series of novels by Susie Baggaley
Tom had nothing but good intentions when he returned home from the battlefields of France and married his widowed sister-in-law, who was desperately in need of financial security and a surrogate father for her two sons.
A decade later, the couple were both floundering. Enid, because Tom constantly reminded her of his twin brother, and Tom, because he had finally met the woman of his dreams on a voyage to India and longed to turn back the clock.
Torn between loyalty to his brother’s family, and deep frustration at having to forgo his own happiness, Tom’s inner turmoil began to cause mayhem in his personal life and chaos in his career. Unless he could come to terms with his demons, everyone involved would feel the full impact of the collateral damage.

Mac’s Dilemma
The 4th novel in the ‘MAC’ series.
Mac’s world had recklessly upended, the establishment swiftly terminating her work in India and her intention to improve women’s lives.
‘Who can blame me?’ she muttered, as she boarded the ss Ranchi bound for Tilbury and a lifetime brooding over what might have been. Even Dr Agnes Scott thought she was mad to give up the prospect of a glittering career in obstetrics in a country so badly in need of female clinicians. But the die was cast, and her stubborn Scottish spirit refused to allow her to look back.
It was unjust, and what was even more abhorrent was the thought of being seen as one of the Fishing Fleet’s “Returned Empty” females by those back home, despite all she had achieved so far. But home was her only option if she was to avoid being ostracized by her male counterparts in the Indian Medical Service, and belittled at every turn.
Surely Mac’s Indian adventure would not end so abruptly? Only a miracle could alter her course now, and she didn’t believe in miracles . . .
