Rohit Tikoo is a Kashmiri writer born in Anantnag, Kashmir. His work explores one of South Asia's most painful humanitarian crises, told through the lens of someone who lived it. He belongs to a generation that witnessed the forced displacement of Kashmiri Pandits from their homeland in 1989 and 1990, an exodus that continues to shape everything he writes.
His books ask difficult questions about what conflict does to people over time. How does violence reshape families? How does exile fragment who we are? How does silence become its own kind of loss? Through careful research and personal reckoning, he documents the emotional weight of political upheaval, not as something distant or abstract, but as lived experience.

“Our worst apprehension came true when the students of Kashmir refused to appear in the examination as their academic career was wasted. Since there were no academic sessions in Kashmir, We the Migrant students in both Jammu and Udhampur suffered due to inefficient, illogical and unreasonable university as our final year examination was cancelled for the year and postponed for the next year. As such, the students did complete the three-year graduation course in four years with a marks sheet for two years only and the marks assigned to the first year were calculated at an average of the final two years.”
