Until recently, Dr Marion Gibbon was Assistant Director of Public Health for Birmingham City Council with the Children and Families portfolio.

In the past, she was a biology teacher and then, whilst in Kenya, decided to reorientate and studied human nutrition at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
She then worked internationally in Kenya, Sri Lanka and Nepal. Her doctoral work took place in Nepal and involved working with communities, particularly women, to improve their health. She has undertaken both community and organisational development and been involved in leading change at local, national and international levels.
