The Cryptid Times – December 2025
Warm holiday greetings, friends. As you may have noticed, I skipped the last two newsletter updates. I thought I’d done one for October but as I can now see, I started it and never finished.
Without getting too deep into it, a lot happened over the last couple of months, and it’s basically just good things. Challenging things, but good things. I’ll talk more about that after the word count update.

I’m actually super pleased to see I’ve done 20k words since the last update...

The Cryptid Times – September 2025
Hello beautiful readers and anyone else who happens to stumble on my ramblings! Fall is basically here, and this cryptid is *thriving* in this weather. At least, as much as I can. Here’s your monthly update on my writing.

Unfortunately, I only managed about 1k of words more than last check-in. I’ll be honest, writing was really hard for me last month. Part of it was just depression, part of it was me not taking care of myself properly, and part of it was me not being able to just keep...

Newsletter: The Cryptid Times – August 2025
Hello friends! As usual, you can call me Al. I’m going to try and do something different with my website, which is to say, I’ll be doing my best to make monthly posts and let you know what’s going on in my weird little horned hobbit life. I think how I’ll be formatting this is starting with my own projects and moving outward to more broader topics, because as much as you and I probably want to pretend the world at large doesn’t exist right now, unfortunately, it does.
I’ve been pro...

Free e-book on me!
Hey friends! I guess better late than never. I’d forgotten it was Indie April and was reminded when I got back on social media. So, for my contribution, The Devil Went Down on Georgia is FREE today and tomorrow (if I set it up correctly. I’m pretty sure I did. Follow the link below and get your copy!

2025: The Good, The Bad, and The Frustrating
In an effort to not be immediately cynical or somber, I’d like to start this post by sharing a small victory.

I went to my very first book fair, and it was an incredibly positive, uplifting experience. I met people who were legitimately interested in my works, and I sold books! I was only able to buy about 25 of each, but I almost sold out of The Devil Went Down on Georgia. It was a validating experience, and I’m so grateful to anyone and everyone who spoke to me that weekend...

2024 & the human behind the cryptid
Hey friends. It’s your favorite cryptid Al.
I’ve always debated with myself as to how much of my personal life is appropriate to share on the internet. I tend to like my privacy, which is why I have almost no ‘personal’ accounts to speak of online. I don’t see the merit, and the people who see me face-to-skull tend to know what’s going on with me.
But, I’ve also built up a little bit of a following on Bluesky thanks to my modeling, and there have been times this year (and like...

Finally time for me to post about this.
So it’s not as if this comes as a surprise. I’ve been talking about doing this for a while and I finally stopped being a scaredy cryptid and did it.

So, yes. I now make written smut AND visual smut! I gotta say, I really enjoy it. Planning photo shoots and outfits and edits has helped fill a creative niche that has been empty for a long time.
But also, since I talked about some of my past on...

Getting through the dark
Hi friends, your favorite cryptid author is back. I haven’t been posting much on Threads this last week because of the muck I’m trying to sort out in my cranial cavity (where there may or may not be a brain present, honestly I’m not sure sometimes).
I didn’t mean for my writer’s blog/website to have anything personal on it, but I find that I have little else to talk about right now. May was full of great moments, but I’m finding it hard to focus on anything but the disappointments.

The meaning behind the books
*Trigger warning: mentions of abuse*
Hey friends! Al here, dishing out some fun little factoids about the person behind the mask. In my last post, I mentioned the fact that I was raised in a *very* conservative christian household. As you may have surmised, perhaps from your own experiences, that fucking sucked. Excuse me while I don’t mince words about my background.
I won’t deny I have recognized that moments of this upbringing were pivotal to becoming the cryptid I am today. You lea...

Plans for the future
Hey friends! Al here, busy as I’ve ever been. When it comes to blogging and keeping blogs updated, I tend to fall short because I have a hard time figuring out what people would want to read from me. I thought about saying ‘oh I’ll start posting every other week’, but I think that’s a bit unrealistic right now.
So, Blood and Key Lime Pie has been out for over a month at this point. It’s my second book and first full novel, and probably the best wake up call I could’ve gotten. As a sm...
