Peter and 2 other people liked Johan Haneveld's review of Slow Gods:
Slow Gods by Claire North
"8,7 very close to five stars. I really enjoyed this book - I just found my eyes were starting to drift over the text in some of the more explanatory passages, not really keeping my attention, and there were some questions the set up of this novel rai" Read more of this review »

Ontsnappingspoging by Johan Klein Haneveld
"MUSTREAD! ‘Ontsnappingspoging’ van Johan Klein Haneveld is een verzameling van fantasierijke, spannende en meeslepende verhalen, die de lezer bijblijven. Ze laten de ontwikkeling zien van een grootmeester in het vertellen van verhalen en illustreren " Read more of this review »

A nice extra story, but mostly fun by knowing the character from Brigands & Breadknives.

Met stip in mijn top van Nederlandse kinderboeken.

Bijzondere, maar toch herkenbare setting, aansprekende karakters en een mysterieus verhaal. Alle ingrediënten voor een top verhaal.

The series really switches gears in this book. While the first book was a bit more serious then Alexanders usual fare, it still had some of the main features of his other works.

This is book is even more mature, and, too be honest, less fun so far.

K.J. Bishop
“Somewhere there are gardens where peacocks sing like nightingales, somewhere there are caravans of separated lovers traveling to meet each other; there are ruby fires on distant mountains, and blue comets that come in spring like sapphires in the black sky. If this is not so, meet me in the shameful yard, and we will plant a gallows tree, and swing like sad pendulums, never once touching.”
K.J. Bishop, The Etched City

I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.

Jorge Luis Borges

Junot Díaz
“Motherfuckers will read a book that’s one third Elvish, but put two sentences in Spanish and they [white people] think we’re taking over.”
Junot Díaz

Maryrose Wood
“She had chosen Dante because she found the rhyme scheme pleasingly jaunty, but she realized too late that the Inferno's tale of sinners being cruelly punished in the afterlife was much too bloody and disturbing to be suitable for young minds. Penelope could tell this by the way the children hung on her every word and demanded "More, more!" each time she reached the end of a canto and tried to stop.”
Maryrose Wood, The Mysterious Howling

Jeff Vandermeer
“The world is filled with people who have too much imagination solely because the people around them have too little.”
Jeff VanderMeer, Wonderbook: The Illustrated Guide to Creating Imaginative Fiction
