Today, issue 919 of Bewildering Stories published a poem I sent to them-the first of a set of three poems collectively titled "The Three Kings of Folly". The first, "The Dying King" can be found in the URL below. The remaining poems will be published in issues 920 and 922 on September 27th and October 11th, respectively. Give it a gander if you so wish.

Giveaway ends today

Today is the last day to enter the giveaway for my first book, "Did You Read the News? so if you haven't entered yet, today is your last chance.

Did You Read The News?

As of writing this, over 360 people have entered the giveaway. That is absolutely insane to me. Just two days ago I was at 260 and was debating with a friend if I was going to break 300 and that happened the very next morning. It's been a super exciting experience seeing all this happen real time.

If you're one of the lucky 100 to get the free e-book, I do hope you leave a rating and a review, whatever it may be. For the others that didn't win the giveaway, I hope you would consider purchasing my book if it was something that really tickled your fancy. The e-book is $2.99, and the paperback goes for $9.99.

In other news, work on the next book is slow. I probably won't have anything completed until the end of the year. But it's going steady at the very least.

Work on the next novel begins

Yesterday I properly began work on my next book. Or rather, I'm beginning the second draft of my next book. I finished the first draft a few years ago, and it's only now that I've come back to put it on the path to get it properly published. The research needed for this next novel was immense, but after a while became an excuse to simply not write because I don't find the act of writing particularly fun.

The early stages of a book can be the most difficult. It's a new project, and one doesn't know exactly how it'll flow yet. At this stage I am still trying to understand just how a book will feel and am always feeling as if I'm writing on shaky ground.

I used to liken the writing of a book's beginning to that a flu shot. But I now realize that is unfair to the shot. Shots are painful, but over quickly. Whilst getting one's grounded on a new manuscript is a slow, anxiety inducing slog.

I do not know when I will be done. "Did You Read the News? Took me about eight months to finish, then a few more months to find an excellent editor and artist for the cover. I reckon that'll be the timeframe for this book too, but who can say, It might take a bit longer.

Speaking of which, the Giveaway for "Did You Read the News?" still has 15 more days left to go, so enter if you still haven't. As of writing this, almost 200 people have entered, which is super encouraging to a new author. I hope those who win the giveaway leave reviews, good or ill, and I always hope that after reading my work that the reader is excited for whatever I'm working on next.

I won't be writing these blog posts very often. It's not something I'm good at and I prefer to keep to myself when possible (also I feel that a lot of the times I simply don't have a lot of interesting things to say). If I feel it is warranted I will create my own website and blog, but as of this moment I don't think such a thing is neccessary.
