I was born in the UK with Asian heritage. All my life I have been interested in the lives of women and how much they achieve in the face of adversity.

When I started to research the life of my great-grandmother, Cecilia Chattergee, I realised that her story needed to be known by a wider audience.

So I wrote the book about her. It is a mix of fact and fiction. I hope it brings her story to life and honours her in the way she deserves.

How do you deal with writer’s block?

I thought that on…moreI found that sitting down to write, even if I had no ideas/inspiration etc, made a big difference. Ideas just came to me as I wrote. I thought that once I read the writing back, it would be awful as I hadn't had the idea in advance. But this wasn't the case. They were often the best ideas!
