What critics said about The Color Red:

“A smart, fast-paced mystery by a master craftsman of the genre who weaves complex ideas into a riveting storyline.” ~ Lesley Choyce, author of The Unlikely Redemption of John Alexander MacNeil

“Potter is writing at the top of his form with the launch of his new detective series set in Cape Cod. Ancient Balkan grudges collide with no-nonsense Yankee detectives in this exceptionally well-written mystery.” ~ Caroline Woodward, author of Alaska Highway Two-Step

“Potter has done it again with his new novel, The Color Red, a nail-biting murder mystery. Thriller fans and lovers of New England, and the Cape Cod region in particular, will be captivated by The Color Red. I loved every page.” ~ James W. White, Author of Giants(less)

I was watching a documentary film about Tom Thomson (who many see as the father of Canadian painting) called 'West Wind: The Vision of Tom Thomson.'
This would make a great novel, I thought. Then I thought, No, it wouldn’t. You can’t fly too close to the Tom Thomson myth. It’s sacred. He’s a Canadian icon.
So, I wrote a mystery novel based on Thomson’s death.
Thomson died on July 8, 1917. The famous painter murdered in Bay of Blood died on July 8, 2017. There are other similarities, but the painter in the novel is not Thomson, and he’s not the main character.
The novel’s main character is OPP Detective Sergeant Eva Naslund.(less)

Title:
*A.M. Potter: Literary Noir and the Reality of Modern Publishing*

Excerpt:
"In a publishing industry often driven by speed, trends, and algorithms, A.M. Potter represents something increasingly rare: a writer grounded in discipline, literary tradition, and narrative restraint.

A Canadian author with three published novels — Bay of Blood, The Color Red, and Silver Moon Rising — Potter writes wit Read more of this blog post »
