More about Diane Williams
Friends! A brief respite from my half-assed self-promotion; when I was writing a review of VICKY SWANKY IS A BEAUTY by Diane Williams, I remembered this tiny essay I wrote about a sentence of hers that has long bedeviled me:

The Radio
Hello, hello. Interviews in this day and age are so time-consuming; getting questions via email at once allows me to spend a lot of time to answer the questions in a way that's somewhat satisfying, but it also allows me to spend a lot of time to answer the questions in a way that's somewhat satisfying... I often kind of mistrust my composed and thoughtful answers, too. So I've come to appreciate the relative speed of doing radio interviews, and am often dismayed by the strange things I say/reveal.
Here's a link to a 15-20 minute interview on Oregon Public Radio:

I may post a longer one, later on. Thanks for your kind attention!

All the talking
Friends,
Hello. I check in here and see that 211 people have added my book. That's so sweet, to imagine people I don't know sitting down and traveling with Francine and Colville, entertaining the Ascended Masters. It's so hard to get any kind of attention for a book in this current world, and so I do what I can, and I talk more than I'd like to. But some of the better conversation I've had about this particular effort is in this rumpus interview with the handsome Tom Barbash:

Thank you.

going underground
Hello. I'm going to gradually post a few things, over here. Writing THE SHELTER CYCLE I did more research than I've ever done before (and may ever do again). This meant reading, of course, but also interviewing many members and ex-members of the Church Universal and Triumphant. And it meant going underground into the shelters. Here's an account of one such trip:

playlist/soundtrack
Such an interesting world where a novel has a soundtrack like this. I believe you can spotify it right to your ears, too:

reviews, etc
I've always had a policy of not reading reviews; someone sent me this one, though, which I'll try to paste in here. Not just because it's positive, but because a) it's about the audiobook and praises the reader; and b) it's by Laura Miller, who is a critic I"ve always admired. I'm also a big fan of her booK THE MAGICIAN'S BOOK, which is about her complicated relationship to C.S. Lewis's CHRONICLES OF NARNIA--highly recommended.

Author!
Okay, I feel I'm really getting my hands dirty, now. There's likely more information about me and my books on my website, or perhaps even on Facebook, but the fact that this is all about people reading books is interesting to me. Because this is how writers start to write, through reading. And if I had any more time in my life I would spend more time reading. And right now I'm going to read The Boxcar Children to my daughters, and nothing makes me happier than that.

The beginning
Friends,
I've long resisted the Social Media, and I'm fearful. But I do like people who read books, and I love to read them.
Always happy to hear from book groups, can work the Skype, and may well come to your town.
