New Novel Out Soon

The reason my reading list has several Marseille-themed books on it at the moment is that I am working hard on the finishing touches of a new novel with a French-English mm queer romantic theme, which I hope to launch at the end of January 2026. Things were going according to plan until the project-manager had to pull out for personal, life-related reasons, leaving everything rather up-in-the-air. Read more of this blog post »

This is a beautiful book. It is science based but reads almost as a novel. There are plenty of self-help tips in there as well, especially for Queer people who find themselves culturally displaced. It got me thinking about my own ancestral cultures a ...more

This is a beautiful book. I loved it so much I started re-reading it as soon as I finished it. It is really poetic and deeply human. I think I could keep it on my bedside table and dip in whenever I needed inspiration in life.

There is something deeply Zen about these Marseille Noir novels of Jean-Claude Izzo. They are deeply humanist. They let go of metaphysics and dualism. But they allow space for mystery and wonder. The void is not empty. It is full of joy.
