Kristian Wilson Colyard (they/them) grew up weird in a one-caution-light town in the Appalachian foothills. They now live in an old textile city with their husband and a clowder of cats. Kristian collects books, teeth, and rocks, and has strong opinions on ampersands (cool) and the Oxford comma (essential). They haven’t met a cryptid yet, but they’re a firm believer in Mothman, the Jersey Devil, and the Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus. They’re also pretty much convinced that their mother is a robot who kept all the neat upgrades for herself.

Once told by a creative writing instructor that they had “mastered the gross-out,” Kristian has been riding high on that compliment ever since. They are the author of the BNW-nominated “Those Who Forget a
