Papa’s birthday without him, still with him

I lost papa last December. And since that dark day, I have lived feeling two conflicting emotions all the time: empty and whole. Every morning as I open my eyes slowly transitioning from the land of dreams to the land of realities, I miss papa. And yet, I feel like he responds to my “Good morning, papa. I love you.” every day. It looks far from just an imagination. It looks as real as this laptop
