New Book Release!
My new book, first of a new series, is launching tomorrow! This is a spicy western fantasy based in a town where magic, instead of gold, was mined. The slow-burn, brought about by forced proximity, between Silas (the Never Missing Gunslinger) and Seraphina (the Siren and Madam of the Parlor House) is spurred on by flirty banter and he falls first. The mayor is keeping Silas's gun, inspecting it for the magical tricks, but all Silas wants to do is leave the town - and Seraphina's job is to keep there.
Come check out this new romantasy that is filled with magic and spice!

Oh I am Dreaming Big
Eating right is a generally good thing. For me, it’s becoming more and more important to pay attention to. I had my first round of allergy tests on Monday, the first round since I gave up on allergists about ten years ago.
I found out a lot…like my allergies are inflaming my body so much that it’s been along it difficult to breath. My nose has swollen 70%, my ears are swollen and after a 15 minute breathing treatment, my lung volume has increased by 28%.
I swear I have PTSD from the first few years of having allergies (they started when I was 15) and the ordeal I had with doctors, ambulance rides, hospitals mixing up files, and anxiety attacks - one which led to me shooting my epi-pen backwards through my thumb! Now, I have found a doctor that believe he can give me long-term treatments for my allergies ✨
I almost cried when he told me that he can fix just another everything with my health right now. Ten years ago, the doctors gave me epi pens and told me to avoid my allergens. No shiz nit Doc! I don’t want to die by asphyxiation! But my allergies started suddenly and they kept growing and expanding. I refused to live in a box and I became annoyed with them saying they didn’t know what my latest reaction was to and they blamed it on how difficult the science of allergies was 🙄
Anyways, I have anaphylaxis allergies, exercise induced allergies, bad allergies and mild allergies. So it all sucks. But the first thing we will actually CURE is the Chronic Spontaneous Uticaria I’ve been having 🤗
I have my food test on Friday and soon to come will be a blood panel to make sure I can no immuno therapy. And please please pray and fingers crossed that my insurance covers it because I cannot imagine how it feel to go hiking and be able to breath again at the same time. Or be able to go to a restaurant and not have a stomach ache afterwards. Or take a shower somewhere other than my else and not get hives or rash from the fragrances, shampoos, soaps or even towels. Oh the dreams 😍

Oh, the Power of Manifestation
Blood of the Ràej has been downloaded over 500 times, has sold 250 copies, and has had 12,000 page reads on Kindle Unlimited (about 35 books). This makes me so appreciative and overwhelmed! ♥
However, only 20 people out of that ~800 people have left a rating/review :( I am asking today for you to take a couple minutes to leave some stars for Blood of the Ràej (and QOTR if you have read that as well) to help spread the word about this new series. I’m working on book 3, Rise of the Ràej, and I want it to launch on June 6th (pre-order coming soon)!
“When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it” - Paulo Coelho.
I believe this philosophy only holds true when you pair it with its other half - “if you want something, you have to put it out into the universe” - I cannot find the original source of that quote.
I wish people could assume, correctly, what I wanted at every second of every day. Life would be too easy though!
I found it a little funny that my employers were shocked to hear that I would rather use my MBA and PhD education to pursue a career that I’ve been working towards for almost ten years. But, I hadn’t really said anything to them. Like I mentioned last week, I had become complacent and I was ignorant about my complacency for too long.
It was like waking up and realizing that you had set your alarm for P.M. instead of A.M. Your heart starts beating because you’re two hours late for work or school and you don’t have time for breakfast or coffee. You stick a quickly pasted toothbrush in your mouth as you grab your keys and a comb and run out the door, hoping that you’ll have gained your composure by the time you reach your destination. As you try to rush through the parking lot, you end up doing the awkward shuffle-walk where one leg is going faster than the other and your huffing and puffing by the time you reach your building. Excuses of why you are late have fled your mind when you see the long, plastic toothbrush sticking out of your mouth in your reflection on the front windows.
It was my boyfriend who told me that I needed to tell my employers that I was serious about looking for a new job. Talk about the universe working fast - I hadn’t time to draft up an email to my manager to explain why I was looking elsewhere before a previous colleague called me up with an amazing opportunity!
“A flower does not think of competing to the flower next to it. It just blooms.” - ZEN SHIN
You know what that flower is really doing? It is putting itself out there! It’s reaching its thin, green arms through the dirt, pulling its head out of the soil and letting the world, the UNIVERSE, know that it is there and that it is needing sunshine and water.
So, today I have put myself out there and let the world know what I am needing.

The stars are aligning
Have you ever had that feeling that everything is coming together and you are right where you are meant to be at exactly the right time?
That is how I feel today.
In just a few short weeks I will be closing on a duplex, finishing my last day under a supervisor I’ve had for 7 years, saying goodbye to an industry I have worked in for 7 years and starting the career that I have been working towards for almost ten years. There are mixed feelings I have about how my life is about to change, but it is mostly anticipation for the unknown.
Someone is taking a chance on me and giving me an amazing opportunity. I do not want to fail them. And I do not want to fail myself. This new venture will be an incredible challenge for me both mentally and emotionally. Every time I think of it though, I get tears in my eyes because I have been looking for this for so long. I have been praying top find that one person that would bet on me.
If you have not experienced burnout before, I hope you never do. Emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and a lack of personal accomplishment are the symptoms of burnout syndrome. Ironically, my dissertation for my PhD program was on burnout in teachers and how it can be affected by authentic leadership of the principal. When my dad’s health started to rapidly deteriorate while fighting cancer, I took a leave of absence from writing my dissertation. My dad died a month later.
My original plan was to resume, and complete, my dissertation after taking a quarter off. Thanks to COVID coming and shutting down all the schools, my project was no longer a valid study as it had been approved on certain factors, such as the principal/teacher face-to-face interaction. The biggest part of my study was that it was going to be looking at person-organization misfit. Though you may fit into the industry of teaching, for example, that doesn’t mean that you are the right fit for every position at every location.
When I started working in my current industry, my first organization was a great fit for me. I loved going to work. I loved the people, the leadership, the culture - all of it! The second, and final, organization I worked for was not a good fit. But when you need a job, you need to take that job. Beggars can’t be choosers.
For one of the few times in my life, I don’t feel like a beggar. I have worked hard for my life and, yes, I feel like I am ‘catching a break’. When I was going to school for my PhD, I took a bus to a train so that I could get to my full-time job without paying $20 a day on parking. I had doubled up classes so that I could finish the classwork as quick as I could. I would do my readings on the hour plus bus and train ride to and from work and I would be up until at least midnight doing homework. None of that mattered anymore when my dad went to hospice. I felt burnout on life and was complacent in my dead-end job.
It is a great feeling to find a career (something that you spend more time doing than almost anything else in your life) that will improve my emotional well being, make me care about what I am doing and make me feel accomplished in what I am doing. I can be proud of my results and proud of the company I am working with.
The end of April is my birthday, and my boyfriend has booked us a trip in Florida for 5 days! The day after I get home to Colorado, my company will be flying me out to San Diego for 3 days. It will be a whirlwind of excitement and planes but I am so excited. Just going to California will make me feel like a celebrity :)
As everything is coming together to quickly, I have decided to book my cover designer and editor so that I can get a pre-order in for book 3, Rise of the Ràej. I want to send my manuscript to my editor before I leave for Florida. May will be a month of completing edits and other finalizations but I am thinking of making the launch date the 1-year anniversary of the book 1 release date.
The point of this burnout blog started off by wanting to tell you how burnout has effected my writing. I wanted book 3 to be released by March, but I have been detesting the computer. After working my 9 hour shifts, staring at a computer screen and doing work that I stopped enjoying years ago, it became hard to make myself sit down and write.
But I have been RE-INVIGORATED! The joy of life has come back to me and the world is full of possibilities again! I may even go golfing soon :)
I hope you have some stars aligning in your life now, too. Please sign up for my newsletter so you can meet more authors, get some freebies and stay up-to-date on the Magic of Omneth series ♥

Murphy's Law
Definitely not my worst day this month…but definitely not the best.
Over the weekend, I finally decided to move our clunky, hard-to-close, space-hogging microwave down to the garage and replace it with the older, yet more convenient, one we used to collect dust. As I held tightly to the awkward appliance, I felt liquid running down my leg.
No, I hadn’t peed myself.
I had just reheated my coffee! This is something I do several times a day…almost every time I stand up I am either putting my coffee cup in or taking it out. Needless to say, it’s not a top priority of mine to remember where I put my coffee cup and, at this moment, it should have mine.
The night after the coffee spilled in the microwave and leaked all over me and the floor, my cat knocked over another cup of coffee! It went all over my desk, filling my gaming headphones that dangled over the edge before pouring into my shaggy carpet. What a mess!
The real funny part about this is that I don’t think I have spilled a cup of coffee in at least a year. In one short weekend, my coffee was spilled twice. Yes, I blame the microwave and the cat.
So, today started great. It was snowing here in Northern Colorado and I only had one errand to run: hair cut. Though I don’t get my hair done often, I do enjoy it. The wash, long-nailed hair massage, someone else brushing your hair and having some blow dry and style for you - heaven! Lately, I have been trying to save money so I went to a new salon that was half the price of where I normally went. I have never colored my hair and I don’t do anything more than a trim and layers, so I didn’t care too much about the price/quality different and I was glad that I saved the money.
Lo and behold!
When I want to save money, something always happens to make me spend money.
I drive home and notice my rear passenger tire is noticeably low. Since I saved money on the hair salon, and I needed an oil change anyways, I drove to Vasoline so they could fill my tires and advise me on what to do. While one of them are changing my oil, someone else is running through everything else that my car is needing: flush the transmission, air filter, coolant, battery and more. The list of ‘must-haves’ quickly added up to a few hundred dollars. Then, I asked about my tire.
“You need to get to Big-O right away,” the mechanic said. “You have a screw in your tire and it’s leaking air fast.”
Awesome.
I drive the few blocks to Big-O and they take pity on me. The men generously patch my tire for free, but tell me that the screw was too close to the wall and I’ll need a new tire. Of course, I live in Northern Colorado so these are my expensive winter tires.
Oh Murphy. Why would you make such a law to put our lives in turmoil thus? ;)
Luckily, we have fantasy books to take us on journeys and brings us to different worlds. If you haven’t checked out the Magic of Omneth, go to my Shop now! And, don’t forget to sign up for my newsletter to see deals from other authors too.
