In my book, I share a variety of examples that are real life-related events, and how each negative event created negative brain patterns. Negative experiences can be transformed into positive brain patterns which create a healthier way of living, and open spiritual pathways toward higher consciousness.

It feels great to be in a state of awareness, and consciousness to know where my life is heading. The things that impacted my life that kept me closed up for so many years no longer have a hold on me. It wasn’t always that way. I had taken on victim energy, and through my transformation, I learned how to release this energy and regain my power. Overcoming these traumas has opened my heart to sharing information as a healing tool for many other people.

My goal is to reach and transform as many lives as possible to awaken other people to this same level of consciousness, one soul at a time starting with mine. I
am inspired and motivated by the outer realms of my mind that which I see but may not yet be visible to others. I try to stay open at all times to receive new information to deliver to those who are open to new possibilities and want to receive healing for the body-mind-spirit.

Natazha Raine O’ConnorPublished November 13th, 2017

Rescued by my Breath is Natazha’s real-life respiratory fairytale. It depicts how Natazha transformed her suicidal breathing habits. Instead of suffocating and sabotaging herself, she began truly loving herself. That enabled her to recover from trauma, reconcile with her Mom, and live happily ever after with her prince charming.

Natazha felt compelled to write Rescued by my Breath after her Mom died. Witnessing her Mom’s life-long struggle to breathe due to allergies, asthma, emphysema, and lung cancer taught her to profoundly value breathing. Her story reveals we all have the power to heal ourselves through our respiration.

Rescued by my Breath teaches you how to befriend your breath in order to discover the root causes of your ailments to become stronger, healthier, and happier.

This book illustrates how we relate to our breathing can either kill us or fulfill us. When Natazha transformed her suicidal breathing habits, she stopped suffocating and sabotaging herself, and began loving herself. This enabled her to recover from trauma and reconcile with her Mom. The morale of her story is we all have the power to save ourselves with our breath. This book will help you befriend your breath and learn how to:

*Hold yourself together with your breath instead of hold your breath when you’re stressed
*Reach for your breath instead of your vices in times of trouble and need
*Through your respiration, ripen rather than rot as you age
*Relate to your breath to improve all your relationships.
*Express yourself with your breath-based voice and feelings
*Work out instead of wear out your body as you exercise

How Conventional Education Has Failed Us in So Many Ways As Authors

There are those who believe life is hard, a misery. Then there are those who genuinely feel that life is good, a blessing, a privilege.

In the early 90s, I felt called to write a book on the World War II American prisoner of war experience, thus capturing the stories of those men and women before their generation passed.

Over the course of my interviews, I spoke with POWs who had been incarcerated by the Germans for only two weeks all the way to men who had been imprisoned and repeatedly tortured by the brutal Japanese for upwards of forty-two months-in the most dehumanizing fashions possible, every day.

I quickly discovered that how gravely these brave men and women suffered, or in some cases, did not suffer, as the result of their incarcerations, had absolutely nothing to do with the lengths or the severities of their stays. No. How greatly they did or did not suffer had to do with one thing and one thing only: whether they had entered into their incarcerations with some sort of belief in a greater spiritual Being or not.

There were some I interviewed who had been imprisoned for only a few weeks by the Germans, who were almost kind when compared to the Japanese, and these men and women were still suffering up to forty years later.

Then there were those who had been tortured daily, in the brutal and dehumanizing ways of the Japanese, yet some of these POWs actually felt that they had grown from the experience.

As a result, there is a chance that they may even decide to commemorate what they have been through by deciding to buy pow flags for sale, as well as a suitable flagpole, so they can fly this flag in remembrance of those who have survived, as well as those who unfortunately lost their lives due to this brutality.

As I am sure you already can assume, the latter group from the above descriptions were those who had entered into their experiences as POWs with some sort of belief in a greater purpose as the result of a belief in a greater Being.

The same I feel holds true with embarking on the art form of writing.

There are those that believe that doing so is hard, difficult, at times impossible, and left to be successfully completed only by the so-called “talented,” “brilliant,” or “the most hard-working.”

Would-be writers with those beliefs routinely gravitate toward philosophies or forms of instruction, education, or experiences that bring those same beliefs into their lives, having gravitated to the conventional academic arena to help make them into the authors, unbeknownst to themselves, they already are. It is there where the most aspiring author, masquerading as an English or a Creative Writing major, can most expect to receive after graduation, for their years of commitment and tens of thousands of dollars or revenue surrendered, not a well written, expressive, inspirational book penned by them, but instead a slip of paper and/or, even worse, an opportunity to land a job, outside their chosen area of expertise that they don’t really want. Talk about dehumanizing.

To the contrary, when one moves away from the have-to-understand it, left-brained, cerebral, have to suffer greatly beliefs and tries learning the how to do what comes naturally approach to writing, the art form of writing a book can emerge quite easily, naturally, and enjoyably.

To get there is quite simple: just do the opposite of how they taught you to write in school and you’ll find yourself landing on the spiritual side of writing and on the spiritual side of life, the place from which all inspiration springs, all hope springs eternal, all potential is lived, and all lives are healed.

So natural of a state is this that it doesn’t take faith to take the step. It’s hard to have faith when that side of you has been beaten up for so long by the “have to’s,” “gottas,” and “shoulds” that we have been forced to superimpose on our individual brilliances so as best to fit in a society that doesn’t serve anyone and, to one degree or another, hamstrings all.

No. You don’t have to, as a matter of fact, have faith to succeed as a writer or in life. You just have to have desire. And it doesn’t matter from where that desire springs-love, happiness, a willingness to serve, frustration, desperation, or anxiety. It doesn’t matter from where it comes. You just have to have it.

Now that’s not to say that once you’ve exercised your desire that you will always have access to the great mysteries of life which make it so much fun – the security of knowing where you’re going, how you’re going to get there, or even why you are doing what you are doing.

Both my life experience and my work with authors over the last three decades have shown me that when we commune directly in this manner with Spirit that we oftentimes don’t know where we are going or why we are going there. However, once we return to living life through that direct communal state, living our lives in that manner becomes blissfully addictive, and we no longer have the need to know everything in advance, including how we are going to get to where we want to go. Oftentimes just knowing where we are going is enough to fully embrace our fully spiritual space-leaving the co-creating aspect of how we’re going to get there up to Spirit and all His/Her helpers.

It’s with this in mind that I wish you the gift of an activated “desire” this Holiday season. May you realize that you don’t need to be blessed because you are already blessed. And may you come into a realization as well with the reality that your dreams, as a child of God, are preordained to come true and that you have them not just for the delivery of your own pleasure but also for the fulfillment of the world and all who are connected to it. For despite all of our outward differences, we all spring from the same creator, and, thus, when one of us succeeds we all succeed. And everything does, truly, happen for a reason, from which we can all learn, grow, and better ourselves if we just have that desire, no matter from where it springs, to believe in a purpose and a Being greater than ourselves.

I hope you’ll consider joining me for my two webinars this month. You can find out more and register here.

May you have the happiest of Holidays ~ Tom

Fall Falls

It happens to me just around this time of year. Every year.

I call it Fall Falls.

At the beginning of this, my absolute favorite time of the year, all that I suppose I signed on to complete this calendar year, whether it be emotional, physical or whatever, that I haven’t yet completed steam rolls me and knocks me over, doing just about anything it/they can to be noticed.

As I am sure you can guess, as a result, this is a deeply emotional experience for me making for a deeply emotional season.

Fall Falls.

But over the years (in reality, more like decades), I have learned to better deal with my season of Fall Falls. Here’s what I do, which I feel can be put to use should you be left to deal with your own version of Fall Falls, Spring Sprungs or whatever.

First, I have to clear my head and keep it cleared. The residue from the emotional baggage that the issues tap into have to be cleared and kept cleared if I have any chance at all of regaining my emotional sanity before the Holidays.

I’m a writer so the route most accessible to the guidance, love, support and wisdom of the Almighty is through – you guessed it – writing. So I spend a lot of devoted time every day communing with Spirit through my writing. So important does this become during my season of Fall Falls that it becomes a routine. I start off every day by writing.

Secondly, with the cobwebs of despair now cleared out of my head because of the above, I can now go more deeply into the real reasons, real lessons behind the issues that arise in my life during this time of year, which makes just so much easier to see a greater purpose behind a supposed dilemma and thus to deal with it more proactively and efficiently.

Lastly, my wayward emotions oftentimes get stuck in my body. So as the last step in this needed process, I take time to literally tune into whatever part (s) of my body that seem to be holding onto an unresolved issue and I tune into it, hear it out, and by doing so I am giving it the attention and love it is crying out for, making everything good in its world.

I hope this helps if you’re dealing with your own version of the Fall Falls or whatever….Tom

Lots of Great Changes a Happening

Lots of Great Changes a Happening. At the conclusion of every summer and at the entrance of every fall, I disappear into my own personal think tank to ponder the upcoming year. I reflect on what previously worked, what could be improved, what news alternatives could be offered and, most of all, what is best for you, my beloved fellow authors.

During that time, I leave no stone unturned, pondering everything, including the design, intent and direction of this newsletter.

Beginning next month in November, you will begin seeing some substantial alterations to this newsletter including it being renamed, after the title of my most recently completed and yet released book, to The Oracle of Writing, which will focus, as its title states, on the oracle that writing can be. Thus, beginning in November, it will begin taking a very broad, but thorough step into this topic.

The Oracle of Writing will come out once a month at the beginning of each month followed a few weeks later by a second, completely different form of my newsletter, featuring a guest blogger/presenter. Each form of the newsletter will carry with it a specific, timely theme, followed later that month by a webinar class of the same theme presented by both myself and my guest presenter.

More on this later.

Next year, as well, currently, I am committing to four Write Your Book in a Weekend Retreats, three in magical, mystical and wonderful Sedona (March, August and November) and a Groover sponsored retreat in Honolulu in May.

My 2018 Sedona based retreats will also be taking on an added dimension where attending authors will be able to extend their retreat experience for four more days so as to complete the revision of and readying for publication of their beloved books.

2018 will also feature the release of another dream come true for me – The World’s Top New Author Contest, as sponsored by me.

As you can see, many exciting things are happening. More on all of these in future additions of this newsletter. … Tom

Nourishing the Divine Author-Within

This post originally appeared on John Hodgkinson’s blog.

If someone had said to me sixteen years ago when I wrote my book for the first time there is a correlation between my physical well-being and my mental well-being, I would have said hogwash. Of course, sixteen years ago being an author was completely different than being an author today. Why is that you may be asking? It’s because the author of today controls his or her own destiny.

Let me set up the circumstances that have brought me the opportunity to brand my body and see the correlation between the foods I eat and the Divine Author within sate of being.

I met Tom Bird for the very first time two days after 9/11/2001. At the time, the only thing I had on my mind was becoming an author and learning how from to become one from Tom Bird. Today, people call him their guru, their mentor and many of us call him our friend. A friendship was formed the weekend following 9/11 between Tom and I that has transcended more than I ever expected.

Fast forward to May 30, 2017, one of my grand-daughters is graduating from high school, in Glendale, Arizona. That same day, for the first time in over five years, I’m seeing my estranged son and his wife. As he walks up the stadium bleacher’s I open my hearts to invite him in for hug. He shuns me and says only one word to me for the next two days, “Naw.” My heart breaks. Thank God, I had cataract surgery earlier in the week and the doctor told me to wear sunglasses, day and night. They help to hide my tears. I remember one of my friends telling me to get my cataract removed a couple of months prior. She told me that it would be the best thing to do. She recommended SharpeVision for this surgery, so I did look on their website to find out more about the services they offer. Anyway, now my vision is much better. The following day at the graduation party, whenever I walk into a room where he, his wife and his daughter, my granddaughter nearly four years old whom I have never met, they would move to the next room. Not he, not his wife, not even my ex-wife had the decency to introduce me to my granddaughter for the very first time. However, this graduation event wasn’t about me, so I say nothing. I hide my sorrow with the sunglasses.

The following day, after the graduation party, June 1st I head for home. It is pretty hard to keep from thinking about what has transpired and to avoid the tears because of the last two days. Nearly half way home, Yuma Arizona, Tom Bird is calling on the phone. “Hey big John, where are you,” he asks.

“I’m in Yuma Arizona, halfway home.”

“Do you feel like making a return trip to Sedona next week for the Retreat?”

Of course, my answer is “Yes, absolutely.”

Soon after passing through Yuma, I come to the conclusion that it is my son who is to own the decision to cast me out of his life, along with the responsibility to own it. I’ve been wearing a coat of arms long enough. After living 67 years with a father who has hated me since the very first day I was born and who still hates me today, I decide this is his lesson, not mine. “I’m just going to love them,” I tell myself.

On May 30th, I weigh 328 pounds. I’m done being an overweight, obese man. I quit bearing the brunt of my failed relationships in my body and I am going to re-brand my frame. Unfortunately, I have no plan and I don’t know where to begin. I’ve tried every diet there is, but none of them have the answer to what I need to do. One week later I’m in Sedona. When I see Tom, he walks up to me and says, “Hey big John, I’ve talked to my wife and she’s doing a case study with ten people regarding nutrition and we are adding you to the list.” It’s not ten minutes later that I’m meeting Heidi Bird for the first time. I introduce myself as Tom’s Project Coordinator and the new member of her nutrition study. She looks at me with a befuddled grin and Tom walks up to introduce us, and a new friendship begins.

Soon after the retreat, Tom and Heidi come to San Diego. While Tom is busy doing workshops, Heidi and I are forming a nutrition partnership. By the second day, she knows my whole life story. A bond is formed. She is now my Nutrition coach and I am her study partner. Weekly phone sessions begin. In the first week, she teaches me not to use the term, “Diet. Take the “t” out of the word, what does it spell? You get the message just like I did, it spells “die.” Most diets kill a part of you, but they never transform you. That’s why we call our process “A transformation of life.”

During the second week Heidi says to me, “Remember this . If you feel like crap, it’s most likely you’re eating crap.” Looking back on my life, I ate crap and I felt like crap, most of the time. How do you feel most of the time after you eat something? Notice how you feel and you’ll understand what I’m saying.

My doctor once said to me, “Don’t ever ask for a referral to have gastric bypass surgery. You know what it takes to change things.”

Yes, she’s right, I do, “Move more and eat less,” at least that’s what I used to think.

During the second nutrition phone conversation with Heidi, she tells me, “You don’t have to give things up, but you do need to add natures natural healing foods, fruits and vegetables to your food base. Then she goes on to explain why they are nature’s most natural healers. It’s because they come from the ground. Eating them grounds you. They are nourished by the sun and water, the most natural nourishment there is.”

The next session she teaches me about “balance.” Going along with Heidi’s belief that we don’t have to give up everything, we come to the conclusion that adding healthier foods, healthy thinking, foods from the ground, we begin to balance things out. Imagine yourself on a teeter totter, me sitting on one side at 304 pounds (Notice the weight loss since May 30th?) and you on the other side of the teeter totter at 180 pounds, what’s going to happen? How will you get yourself down? Only two choices, jump or wait for me to lift enough weight to let you down. Something has to be added or subtracted to balance the beam. The same goes for nourishment.

One week later, I’m confessing that I have a bad week. “I ate crap and I feel like crap,” I tell her. My writing skills are weak, my work attitude is not broken, but I’m not at the top of my game. I’m tired and not focused. Even one of the authors sends me a note after the PN webinar. asking me if I’m okay. It showed. Confessing to Heidi and to the author is enough to make me get back on track. After the session, Heidi sends me the primary food circle. I do some research and find that there are primary foods that nourish the various aspects of the circle of life. Which of these areas of the food circle belong to an Author? At first glance, all of them. However, I believe there is a correlation between the two directly at the top and the two directly at the bottom. At the top you find, Spirituality and Creativity and at the bottom you find Home Cooking and Activity. No-where in the food wheel is there any mention of fast foods or junk foods. So why do we eat them? It’s simple, “20 seconds of pleasure.”

As authors, we find the food groups that nourish the Divine Author within to be nuts, fruits and vegetables. Easy to make these as home served meals. I use the term home served because we each have our own preference, cooked or raw. I choose raw. Most Authors find themselves sitting more than they should, so what about activity. How does that play into the circle of life? Do I need to run a marathon or even walk a mile to satisfy activity? Imagine this, while sitting at my computer, writing this blog, how much movement is going on. My eyes are moving, my fingers are moving, even my head is moving? Can we consider this movement? Sit at your computer sometime with an IWatch from Apple on your wrist. By the end of the day, I find between my trips to the kitchen, the bathroom, the living room and back to the office I’ve used up 500 calories or more. Thinking we have to do more, such as run or walk a mile, we don’t see there really are ways that we satisfy activity. As an author eat foods that nourish your creativity and enhance your spirit, eat from home, see your writing as activity and you will find that the Divine Author within will be more productive and stay with you longer each day.

Is there a correlation between eating the foods that nourish us and the Divine Author Within? My Divine Author Within says, “Yes.

It’s Time To Step Into Your Brilliance And Here’s How To Do So – Step Three – The Final Step

Gather your writing that you wrote as the result of last week’s blog.

Get a handheld mirror.

Make sure you have a large pad of unlined paper nearby and a pen.

Look at yourself in the eye in the mirror and begin reading what you wrote to yourself.

STOP READING THE SECOND ANY NEGATIVE THOUGHTS FORMS APPEAR AND WRITE EACH ONE DOWN ON YOUR PAD OF PAPER.

This may take several days, if not weeks, to do but continue on with the above until you can read through your writing five consecutive times and feel nothing negative pop up.

Then, and only then, will you have authoratarily stepped into a conscious reflection of your brilliance….Tom

It’s Time To Step Into Your Brilliance And Here’s How To Do So – Step Two

Set aside some time to write. At least an hour.Make sure you are in an undisturbed environment.First turn on the relaxation technique track to the digital download of my writing CD (if you don’t have it click here to get it).

Follow the instructions.

Once you have completed the above, turn on the second track, the subliminal version of the download.

Once you’ve allowed yourself to relax deeply, ask of your Divine Author Within (DAW) where    You will be led to go on a personal, professional, logistical and financial level should you decide to go to where it leads you.Ask it to be as detailed as possible in all of the above areas.

Copy down it’s response and ask any questions of it, in this regard, that you need to have answered. Cu next week….Tom

It’s a Time of Awakening

It is a time of awakening for us all. It is a time to step into our power. I realize that you have done this on several occasions in your life already. But never have you done it before like you are meant to and going to do right now.

There is no skirting of the issue. It is time.

There is nothing to fear.

How to do so?

Simple.

Print out, copy, whatever, the following writing by Marianne Williamson. Carry the hard copy of it with you wherever you go.

And read it over to yourself at least three times a day. Doing so will direct you to come into touch with and will release your deepest pockets of resistance. And in doing so you will be setting yourself free for the major leap forward you are being led to take right now in your life.

Speaking it into a mirror each time, while looking at yourself directly in the eyes as you repeat each and every word, will greatly accentuate your results, as will releasing any resistance you feel to doing so on paper as you read over the following.

Stay with the reading of Williamson’s brilliant, spirit led writing until you can read it and feel nothing but acceptance, love, joy and inspiration. Then and only then will you have broken through your shell to yet again birth your brilliance.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. we are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
