Kirkus reviews
This feels surreal!
Here’s the full Kirkus review for Vibrations – Children of Atlantis — I'm incredibly proud and grateful.
"Two extraordinary teens discover their hidden Atlantean heritage and face mythical trials to stop an ancient enemy in Alexander’s YA fantasy novel.
Nada appears at first glance to be a deaf teen living in quiet anonymity. She has always kept secret the rare gift she’s possessed since she was a child: She can see sound as light. Her world is upended when she meets Kani, a new student with an uncanny ability of his own, passed down through his family, to sense and manipulate vibrations. Their meeting ignites a chain of supernatural events that reveals them to be the last descendants of Atlantis and heirs to an ancient, forgotten power. As shadowy creatures visible only to them emerge from the bowels of myth, Nada and Kani piece together the mystery of their shared lineage. The plot thickens further when the two teens learn that they must complete five elemental trials set by the ruthless Dei Tenebris gods to prevent the end of the world. Each trial will challenge their abilities, their bond, and their growing understanding of who they truly are (“That connection between you two is what’s going to help you survive these trials”). Readers are led deeper into the lore of this world as Nada and Kani uncover clues hidden in ancient texts, forgotten songs, and shimmering visions only they can perceive. Along the way, they face betrayal, forge unexpected alliances, and come to understand that true power lies in unity and self-acceptance. Alexander’s accessible narrative is as emotional as it is mythic, blending action-packed sequences with affecting moments of vulnerability and courage. It takes a while for the stakes to be clearly established, but they are compelling enough to propel readers through the story. The representation of Nada as a deaf protagonist is both respectful and empowering as the character provides a fresh take on what it means to be extraordinary. Though aimed at younger readers, the poetic use of sound and silence elevates the text, allowing older readers to enjoy the story as well.
A thrilling, heartfelt journey of identity, friendship, and rediscovered myth." Kirkus Reviews

Three 5-Star Medals for Vibrations!
I'm truly honored and grateful to share that Vibrations: Children of Atlantis has received three 5-star medals from Readers’ Favorite! 🌟 Their thoughtful reviews mean the world to me, and I'm thrilled that Nada and Kani's journey has resonated so deeply with professional readers. Here’s what they had to say:
#1
"Author A.R. Alexander has done a remarkable job of infusing this story with boundless sensory stimulation. Writing in the first-person narrative from the perspectives of our two protagonists was a strategic move that was executed with perfection. Character descriptions are detailed, which makes the characters likable and relatable. A resounding theme of misplaced self-doubt and finding your place in this world saturates every page. This book is filled with action based on a new set of rules, which makes for phenomenal world-building. I loved the introduction of various mythical creatures from different religions and mythologies. Suitable for young adult readers, Vibrations is a fast-paced adventure that will fill you with hope and large doses of self-confidence."
#2
"Vibrations: Children of Atlantis by A. R. Alexander is an engaging YA adventure that blends an intriguing coming-of-age journey with supernatural abilities and the fascinating mysteries of an ancient race. The plot is both thought-provoking and adventurous. I was completely captivated by the series of events that unfolded the moment Nada's and Kani's fated paths crossed. I was impressed by how they gradually unraveled the secrets tied to Atlantis and their roles in the story. The author does a sublime job of remodeling the Atlantis myth and the story's essential characters to fit the overall storyline. Fans of Greek mythology will be pleased! The novel is creatively recounted in the first person through the interchanging POVs of Kani and Nada, thus giving readers a clear sense of each character's unique perspective. Readers who love adventure stories that cover self-discovery and family expectations with a trace of supernatural elements will unquestionably enjoy this read."
#3
"Vibrations: Children of Atlantis by A. R. Alexander is an adventurous and refreshing take on the legend of Atlantis. It is a riveting YA fantasy that will impress fans of the genre. Alexander flawlessly brings the lost civilization of Atlantis to life through the exciting experiences of two identifiable and realistically depicted teens. What impressed me the most was Nada and Kani's journey of self-discovery, courage, and friendship. They are not simply two young heroes from an ancient civilization living in the modern world—they are two multifaceted teenagers wrestling with their own anxieties, insecurities, and tough choices while slowly learning to rely on their friendship and themselves. This book is ideal for readers who relish novels on mythology and relatable characters. If you are captivated by books like The Kane Chronicles and the Magnus Chase series, rest assured, you will love this YA tale as well."
