Boundaries

I try to give a book at least 50 pages before I decide to put it on my DNR list. With Circe, I was 200 pages in, convinced that this best seller was going to reel me in at some point... I couldn't take it anymore and finally took my bookmark out, closed the book, and put it on my shelf for good.

Once I picked up my next book, I realized why I had been struggling to get into a fiction book. It's because what I really needed to read was already on my shelf.

Set Boundaries, Find Peace by Nedra Glover Tawwab

I picked this book up a few month ago thinking it would be something interesting to read, but little did I know I would need it desperately in the future.

So there it sat on my shelf until the right time. Opening the first page was like opening the page of my journal. Every chapter after that was a peak into my struggles with setting boundaries in literally every aspect of my life. I couldn't ingest the book fast enough, knowing my current relationships, mental health, and emotional well-being depended on it.

This book is one reason why I mainly love non-fiction. Sometimes we need validation and confirmation for the experiences we have, and when no one in our lives can do that, it feel lonely and isolating. Nedra is incredible and I 100/10 recommend her book!
