ChatGPT Writes More Murder
In a 2023 article, ChatGPT Writes Murder, I explored how well OpenAI‘s Artificial Intelligence application could write original murder and mystery prose. As it turns out, not very well. Has ChatGPT improved in the year since? Where possible, I’ve input the exact same prompts in the exact same order to see what’s improved… or not. This is all being done with the public, freely available version. So, here we go…

Ascendance Characters & Entities
This is about the real threat of designer babies, but also what it means to be human, to be flawed, to be inferior or superior, and how easily we’re judged by others. This kid was violent, angry, toxic trash. Of course he was a shooter.
Main CharactersThe Lamarr FamilyNathan L. Marks – Lead Protagonist
Basics: Mixed race / Asian American (like Audrey), but could pass for white
Title: Police Consultant (Among other things) under the name Marks Technical Consulting Services, and he’s technical...

ChatGPT Writes Murder
ChatGPT writes murder! Murder, ChatGPT wrote! But seriously, if you’ve been on the internet lately, you might have noticed ChatGPT (OpenAI‘s interactive AI chat system) can do pretty much everything. Now Microsoft has invested $10 million or something, sorry, $10 billion, so the hype is sure to die down. But in the meantime, what can ChatGPT actually do in terms of creative prose fiction? Can it write a story based on a simple prompt and, if so how good is that story? Let’s take a quick look.

ChatGPT Wrote My Novel Blurbs. They Don’t Suck.
With all the hype about ChatGPT, a relatively new AI-based chat system from OpenAI, I thought I’d see what it can do for that bane of self-published authors–the marketing blurb. Can it help make our blurbs better, save us time writing them, or write them all by itself? No way to know without trying, so…off we go.

AI Audiobooks Will Make Human Narrators Obsolete by 2030
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Audiobooks will make human narrators obsolete by the end of the decade (2030). That’s a prediction, implying an educated guess, but it’s almost a certainty. And whether it’s 2029 or 2031 doesn’t really matter; what matters is that an entire profession will either vanish or be so greatly diminished it will seem quaint. When I first started thinking about this series, and before doing much research, I thought that human obsolescence so soon was unlikely. Now I think it...
