Justice is not fair and, in many instances, cold and heartless
Justice literally means fairness yet it’s also a contradiction because fairness doesn’t always mean justice, and justice doesn’t always mean fairness. Confusing? Agreed! When you look at the world and the different countries, they all have their justice systems in place, some crimes in some places might be light imprisonment yet in other countries those same punishments you get the death penalty.

“When it comes down to it, it is harder to ignore the sucking up to power, than to turn away from the scene presented by Marianne. The more these morons attempted to act judicial, the more they exposed themselves to Kazan. But now he is pleased that a light has been cast upon those in the room who have been exposed by this ridiculous scene. He could choose to ignore it. He chooses instead to celebrate it, and the games that are going on for the majority of the evening.”

He had attempted to escape, only to travel to Vancouver after the unexpected passing of a friend. The Globe and Mail obit was just a few scribbled lines about his friend, a man identified by his profession and the opportunities and dreams that he had left behind. Kazan wanted to avoid a similar fate. He knew it was a desperate move. He should have given it more thought. Now, he blames Briar for the move. She is the cause of his fractured life. He struggles to even partially recall how they met.”

Her hair is still wet when she makes it out into the pouring rain outside of their building. The taxi driver is waiting for her at the end of the lane, but she pretends that it is an old friend who has come to rescue her from her darkness, so that any neighbours who might catch a glimpse of her will be unaware of her loneliness.”
