D.B. Motu is a recovering screenwriter, often found drowning in coffee shops. His greatest claim to screenwriting fame is that Wes Craven once turned down a script of his because Wes thought it was too dark.

He was born on an island you've never heard of, grew up under martial law in Southeast Asia (not far from the Archipelago), and currently lives and writes in sunny Southern California.

He insists he's directly descended from Samoan and British royalty, and counts among his ancestors a South Seas pirate. He's a board-gaming poet and aspiring liar.

As the streets of that city became less safe, more walls were built, closing off homes and even groups of homes within protected compounds. Our house was part of a closed off group of three homes. The compound created was structured in such a way that one wall was built across a neighbor's driveway. There was some urgency to the building, since the security situation was deteriorating rapidly, and the wall was built so quickly that the neighbor's car, which was parked on his driveway, ended up on our side of the newly constructed wall. Temporarily, of course. Or so we thought. As it turned out, that car sat in front of our house, right beside the wall, for twenty years. Eventually, it rusted through and had to be removed. During its stay, we never moved it. In the early days of the military taking control, there was so much confusion; people coming and going, impromptu construction projects, the imposition of martial law--and when the dust settled, there was a car sitting in our yard. My brother and I never knew the full story behind that car. To this day, it's a mystery that I would dearly love to unravel and solve. (less)

I'm excited to see where the Tavingtons will take me in the second book.
I don't have a title for the sequel yet. Stay tuned. I'll let you know as soon as I do. (less)
