Aruna Maharaj Lepore is the award-winning children's book author and illustrator of Peanut the Penguin. Her book earned 2 Purple Dragonfly Awards for 2022, a Creative Child Magazine 2022 Book of the Year Award, and a Wishing Shelf Book Red Ribbon Winner Award. Although an author, Aruna is now also a nursery school assistant teacher. She otherwise takes her motherhood role very seriously, and enjoys telling stories to her kids, composing poems and short stories for her mother, and painting. She recently discovered her passion for creating picture books for children. A US citizen, Aruna was born on the Caribbean Island of Trinidad.
