“Strangers can’t be all bad. Mother was a stranger to you at some point, right?”
“That was different. Love is different. It’s difficult, but you’ll understand when you’re older.”
“Stay away from strangers unless you love them. Got it.” I laughed and wagged my tail involuntarily. Pa looked at me with a strange look and then half-smiled, and then we left the tree alone.”
