Bryan J Mason wrote his first novel, Shaking Hands with the Devil, in the late 1980s, but put it away, concluding he was a failed author after failing to get it published. He finally redrafted it and was delighted to find success over thirty years since the first draft.

He has worked as a financial investigator, a mediator and made sound effects for BBC Radio. He is now a full-time crime writer. As well as crime writing he writes regular theatre reviews and co-writes and directs an annual community pantomime.

Belfast 2024

I have just returned from a very successful book launch held in The Secret Bookshelf in Carrickfergus. Thanks to everyone who came along and listened to readings and asked questions. I love talking to readers and am very keen to get out and about. Writing is a solitary existence and it's great to find people actually reading the nonsense that goes on in my head.

Compelling and atmospheric.
I loved this start to the Wild Atlantic Murders series. The story quickly moves into action, with believable characters from the first line. As usual, Lecky draws the reader into another world, and the eerie grandeur of Ir

Bryan Mason Reviewer: Dark humour - crime writing gold! Loved, cringed and laughed at the vividly portrayed characters. Put the kettle on and enjoy a great read.

'Explosively witty!'
