Writing Update: October 2025
Well, it’s been a few months since my last writing update, hasn’t it? There are a few reasons for that, which I’ll get into below, but I’m happy to report that I’m back! And not only that, but I’ve been inspired and have done quite a bit of writing.
What’s been going on?Well, let’s get into it.
I don’t have a thick skin, apparently. Back in July, I got a particularly harsh review on one of my books, which kind of ruined my self-confidence for a li...

The Magic of Edinburgh
Last month I was lucky enough to visit Scotland, and I had the most amazing time. I’ll be honest and say it wasn’t initially high on my list of places to visit, but I couldn’t be happier that I went. I turned forty earlier this year and I wanted to take a trip to celebrate. Schedules didn’t exactly align with friends or family, so I decided to go someplace myself. After doing some research, I settled on Edinburgh because it seemed like a good place to go if someone was traveling alone. I travele...

Things I Liked In June 2025
This entry is going to be a little light on recommendations because I’ve been a little busy. Earlier this month I traveled to Scotland for a week and had the absolute BEST time. Sometime soon I’ll post about my trip and share some pictures but, let me tell you now, you need to visit Scotland. I was mostly in Edinburgh, and I had so much fun while I was there. I went to museums and castles, took a tour of the West Highlands, and even celebrated Pride. The weather couldn’t have been more beautiful...

Writing Update: June 2025
Happy Pride Month!! Given what’s going on in my home country right now, I think it’s more important than ever to celebrate things like this. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are part of, or should be part of, the fabric of this country and I refuse to hear otherwise. I’m very proud of who I am and I deserve the same rights as anyone else. Members of the LGBTQ+ community should feel safe here, but we don’t. When trans men and woman, especially those who are people of color, are getting murdered, ...

Things I Liked In May 2025
May is always an incredibly busy month for me since I work at a university. It’s the time when we close out the academic year and have a bunch of events, like commencement. My brain is usually scattered and mush by the end of it. So, I’m glad it’s all over and we’re heading into the summer months! I’m more than ready for a vacation and, luckily, one is on the horizon. I’m very excited to be able to relax, but also to explore a new country. I’m starting to work on my itinerary a little more serio...

Writing Update: May 2025
I’ve kind of been running on autopilot this month. Things at work have been absolutely insane because of end of the academic year events, including commencement. It was so incredibly busy and every day just wiped me out completely. It’s a wonder I got anything else done! But commencement was yesterday so things should start getting back to normal soon.
I remember last year at this time I was writing the first draft of Book #5 in “The Álvarez-Moreno Files” and I was in a similar “everything i...

Things I Liked In April 2025
I can’t believe it’s the end of April! I’m glad it is, though, because it was a pretty stressful month – this time of the year always is for me (well…every time of the year always is for me…I think I might have a problem???). Working at a university, we have commencement to prep for. In a few weeks, it will all be over and I can hopefully relax a little. Not everything was super stressful this month, though (just most things). This month I got a promotion at work and I booked my trip to Scotland...

Writing Update: April 2025
Before I get into some updates, I want to briefly mention some thoughts on sales. April has been an interesting month so far in terms of the sales of my books. I am very slowly starting to get people interested in my work, and I’m really grateful for it. Facebook ads have really helped me reach a wider audience (though, I still have quite a ways to go). I’m currently running this one ad, and some kind soul commented on it saying that they’ve read all three books in my “The Álvarez-Moreno Files” ...
