Inspiration! Trust your heart and the flow of life, rekindle the sense of wonder, listen to that faint voice within. When you live with your heart open you will sometimes be hurt, but you will also experience great joy and fulfillment. And when you live that way, luck also seems to find you, to fall in love with you.

My story is a spiritual odyssey, a fast current of adventures in the West, in India, on the Gaza Strip, on Broadway, in a ‘’close encounter,’' full of great risks, narrow escapes, humor, tragedy, mystical synchronicities, and great love. Through it all you see a guy wide open to life, carrying through with a sense of wonder and adventure, always asking, ‘’what happens next?’’

There are moments in life when you have to take a giant leap of faith, or you stay in your current state. I wrote the book during the dark days of the pandemic, yet I found so much light and laughter in my story. If you keep that childlike wonder, trusting your heart, trusting the flow of life, ready to leap into the currret, the universe will present opportunities, if we’re open to them.

You can continue to come of age, at any age.

These experiences, some of which stretched my understanding of ‘’reality,’’ needed to be preserved. As well, I sought some sort of through-line for my life.

As I began to write, and remember, remarkable stories rolled out of high adventure, interspecies encounters, and jaw-dropping serendipity, like the lost and found love story that weaves through my life. I began to take note of an incredible luck that had graced my journey, sometimes through the most harrowing moments. I also became aware of an abiding sense of wonder, with me since boyhood in Illinois. Clearly, here was a story worth telling. What would officially be labeled a ‘’memoir’’ was in actuality a spiritual odyssey, an adventure novel.

In a world in need of a lift, I felt it was important to share a different perspective. In shadow and in sun...luck and wonder.

'TIS AN ILL WIND THAT BLOWS NO MINDS

'’Tis an ill wind that blows no minds’’ - Malaclypse the Younger, Principia Discordia (from '’The Cosmic Trigger,’’ by Robert Anton Wilson)

I always look for books that blow my mind, and ‘’The Light Eaters,’’ by Zoe Schlanger, is the latest. Speaking about plants, ethnobotanist Timony Plowman exclaimed, ‘’They can eat light, isn’t that enough!?’’ Think about it!

‘’The Light Eaters,’’ a cutting edge Read more of this blog post »

Like a bad Dan Brown novel. Comic book writing. Interesting topic, but too shallow to hold my interest. Bored, I quit at page 65.

“Now you will feel no rain,
For each of you will be shelter for each other.
Now you will feel no cold,
For each of you will be warmth for the other.
Now there will be no loneliness,
For each of you will be companion to the other.
Now you are two bodies,
But there is only one life before.
May beauty surround you on the journey ahead
And through all the years.
May happiness be your companion always.

“Out of the heart
Of the West I rode,
Daring you only
To kiss your fears.
I, of the churning blood
And low blue fire,
Shedding collars and ties,
Burning all papier-mâché hearts,
And bringing a soul into your eyes.''

Thanks, Carol! Sorry you didn't win, as well. I hope you do get a copy, however. Amazon seems to be the most trouble-free venue right now, with supply chain issues affecting some of the other retailers. If you get the book, I hope you'll let us know how you enjoy it! Take good care - and happy reading - Rich
