The first was Dorothy Dunnett's novel, Niccolo Rising, which had a big reveal moment at the end that left my mind reeling with ideas about a misunderstood protagonist who's secretly responsible for pulling strings and creating a massive conspiracy without anyone realizing it. After I finished that book, my husband and I coincidentally watched the movie The Firm, based off the novel by John Grisham, which had a similar theme of "thwarting the system" and seeking revenge when your enemies think you're backed into a corner. But in the end, it was the movie Law Abiding Citizen which really struck me. Here was this character, played by Gerard Butler, who felt so failed by his judicial system and government that he goes to drastic lengths to prove their corruption, only to damn himself in the process. So was born Stephen Warde, only... the difference was that I wanted to actually LIKE Stephen and his objectives, even though there were times throughout his story where we cringe and think "Why, Stephen? WHY!!!!" It seemed so needed to have a historical version of these similar themes, and then on my way home from our cabin one day, we passed a small town in Wisconsin named Abbotsford. The rest is...history :)(less)

I am hoping that in creating this group I can help writers find someone to proof read their book. All books will be accepted.
