Every time I sit down to work on my latest novel, a multitude of gritty annoyances interfere.

I have four cats which accounts for sixteen paws tracking dust and nasty litter bits beyond the confines of their cat room. I usually step on a pointy nugget late at night when the lights are off and I'm half asleep. I'm convinced the cats hide and wait for my piercing scream punctuated with choice expletives. I imagine them holding their paws to their mouths and chuckling, a kitty laugh much like the cartoon dog, Muttley. But, what does this have to do with writing?Good question. But, it comes back to those gritty, stuck-in-the-bottom of your foot annoyances.My mornings are devoted to marketing myself:

Postings on social media (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter - which I don't totally understand, which leads to a big issue) Making a short video for YouTube or for social media (which I don't totally understand, which leads to yet a bigger issue) Visiting reader sites like BookBub and Goodreads, spending time to comment, recommend or otherwise connect with like-minded individuals. Developing content for my next newsletter or email (like this one...lucky you!)

Then, after lunch, I get down to writing...hopefully.

Let's face it, I would rather write from sunrise to sunset but I'm an unknown author with big dreams so I'm out their hawking my books. When over 2700 new books are published EVERY DAY, that's a large mob of authors in the same boat...or litter box, depending on your point of view.

But, I LOVE writing and I ENJOY sharing my stories with you. So, I think were in agreement if I say I must be a glutton for punishment...throw more litter nuggets on the floor, please!

THE NEW LITTER BOXOther authors told me that the hardest task I'll ever face is to ask others for help. Damn, straight, Skippy! I'm an independent, fierce woman who thinks she's got this world figured out (hopefully, you're shaking your head at me right now.)We're all a little shy when it comes to recognizing our unique talents and I'll be the first to raise my hand in admitting I don't easily ask for help. But, I'm confident that if I made the ask, there would be a multitude of friends and family stepping forward.So, this cat is shaking off the litter dust and doing just that.I NEED YOUR HELP

Share my stories with others. Tell you friends and families about my books and ask them to FOLLOW me on any of the social media platforms (see above) SUBSCRIBE to my email newsletter. Only subscribers are eligible for free copies of books and other giveaways. Leave a book review. Many of you have spoken to me in person or shared your thoughts online, but the best method that really helps me is to post a review or rating on Amazon , Barnes and Noble, Goodreads or Bookbub . Let me be clear, I don't expect 5-star ratings. I do encourage you to be honest and share specific points that other readers will find valuable. Follow me on reader websites. There are 2 great sites that connect readers to authors: Goodreads and BookBub . These are free sites where you can score really good deals on books representing a variety of genres. Share my event information. Even if you can't attend my book signings, please let your family and friends know about these fun events. Here are the details on my Denali Rising Event on April 16.
