Mary Batten is an award-winning writer for television, film and publishing. Her many writing projects have taken her into tropical rainforests, astronomical observatories, scientific laboratories, and medical research centers.

This was the most valuable writing training I ever had because I learned to write on deadline--check the assignment book in the morning and do what was necessary to produce the article by the end of the day. After that I had writing jobs for TV, books, and magazines that all had deadlines.
