The most important lesson to teach kids about money

Share It!TwitterFacebookLinkedIn

Have you talked to your kids about money today? We often think it’s a big conversation that needs preparation, but it doesn’t have to be. The biggest step is starting those conversations and opening up the floor for them to be curious and ask questions regarding finances.

And the good news is that it can be so easy! We have no reason to wait until they’re a certain age to discuss, we don’t have to sit them down, and we don’t need to complicate things for us o...

The Number 1 Habit to Create Wealth

Share It!TwitterFacebookLinkedIn

So many people are intrigued by creating wealth in their lifetime using the stock market. Yet, most people are not aware of the ins and outs of investing, where to start, and how to generate wealth from it so I’m here to share a bit of what I know in hopes you can start!

My number 1 tip for creating success in the stock market is this: Invest 20% of everything you earn into the entire stock market.

And then give it time.

Literally the best way to build...

The power of delaying a purchase

Share It!TwitterFacebookLinkedIn

The truth about money is that we all want more of it. We’ve been taught from the beginning that the more money you have the better off you’ll be. Though having money is great and it gives us the ability to have the things that bring us joy, getting money fast can be the biggest gamble. One of the most powerful things about money is how you can count on it to grow over time.

Of course everyone would love to be a millionaire overnight, but in reality, that’s unr...

Why vacations are the best time to teach kids about money

Share It!TwitterFacebookLinkedIn

Something I always say is that vacations are my favorite time to teach kids about money. When you include lessons about how much these big ticket trips cost, how much small things cost throughout the day, and even the analogies and lessons that come along the way, kids will have a much better understanding of how money can be spent. This experience will aid them in pondering their own Awesome Stuff™, and deciding what they think is worth spending money on.

Why we shouldn’t teach our kids to save

Share It!TwitterFacebookLinkedIn

Okay, it’s not exactly that we SHOULDN’T teach our kids to save, or that we don’t actually want them to save. It’s what we’re ACTUALLY teaching them when we are teaching this simple lesson.

Instead of teaching our kids to save, we should be teaching them WHY they should save in the first place. Teaching them WHY is how we begin to change the way they think about money and what it means to live a richer life.

Throughout life, we have all been taught that it...

How to start buying only The Awesome Stuff™

Share It!TwitterFacebookLinkedIn

It’s easy to get caught up in impulse buying of items on Amazon or from social media ads, for example. But is this stuff truly benefitting our daily lives? Are these items bringing us joy and supplementing us on a deeper level?

I recently talked with a parent about their experience taking their child to the mall. The excitement the child felt for all the toy displays in the windows was overwhelming. This child was fascinated and immediately wanted to purchase...

What is your Awesome Stuff™?

What lights you up? What puts the biggest smile on your face? What gets you most excited?

I’m so passionate about this because if you don’t understand what makes you the happiest in life, you will always be seeking more and never have enough.

Everyone loves money because it allows us to obtain the things that once seemed out of reach for us. Some people have been saving their whole lives for a trip or a big ticket item that they’ve always wanted. Or it cou...

What to do with the money your kids got for the holidays

After the excitement of the holidays continues to die down, you may feel it’s time to get your life back on track in more ways than one. Whether you’re still trying to find places to store all your kids’ new toys or have already gotten your house put back in order, there’s still likely the issue of what to do with any money your kids may have received.

For the youngsters around us, gifts are really exciting. Yet, the gift of money may feel overwhelming to many children and young adults. My gr...
