I'm on the cusp of finishing the second installment of this fresh book series. Why? Because I just had to.

So, I had a problem. I hoped to pen a story about the future, envisioning technological marvels and societal shifts. However, my intention was for the science to be grounded in reality. I did not intend to make it exclusively scientific, given that I was, in fact, writing a fictional story. Did I do justice in that? Only you good folks can tell.

I conceived of a starship designed for retirement cruises among the planets, a vessel where people send their elders. Forget a typical retirement home; this is an adventure spanning the entire solar system.
Hence the dilemma: What should I name this starship?
After a week-long procrastination, (Translation: When we writers say we are "writing," often it means we are just wasting time doodling or doomscrolling or doing things which might have nothing to do with the writing)
So the name that finally clicked was: The Fresh Start.

Escaping her debt collectors and using a stolen ticket belonging to a deceased passenger, the chaotic, allergy-prone, retired substitute teacher from Miami, Marcy Mayhem, begins her journey on the space cruise as an assistant at the Galactic Bites Café. She quickly finds herself the prime suspect in the captain's murder.

Is this destined to be a bestseller? I have my doubts.
Still, I found great satisfaction writing it. And reading it was enjoyable.
Given that I rarely love the novels I read and the fact that I loved reading it after writing it, tells you something.
I know I am weird. But I'm hoping to find others who are my kind of weird and enjoy my writing.
