John Roche grew up in Belfast, Northern Ireland during the 60’s and 70’s. At eight years he had his first writing success, winning a national story competition. The effort won him twenty-one guineas and a stern look from his mother; the story was a less than flattering description of her.

Over the past 40 years John has worked in engineering construction through Europe, Asia and Australia. In 2015, whilst living and working in Dalian, China, John began writing children’s stories. He regularly told these stories in his youngest daughters’ class, when on breaks home with his family in Perth, Australia.

Actually, I do have a question or a hope--have you ever seen the Thai film Uncle Boonmee Recalls His Past Lives? Slow and strange. Hilarious scene when his wife shows up at the dinner table (after being dead for 11ish years.) Looking forward to reading it when I can get some of my existing to-read pile tamed. :)

A new old book

Hi Goodreads folk,
One of the good things about growing old is picking up a book you read fourteen years ago, leafing through it, and discovering you can't remember the plot or ending. In a secondhand book shop I discovered such a treasure, The Watchman by Robert Crais - one of the Detective Elvis Cole series. Joe Pike, my favorite character, is the lead in this story.
