David Carlos Tur García (Ibiza, 1990) vive en Tokio desde 2017. A los once años, su padre le regaló una videocámara, despertando su afición por la grabación de cortometrajes. De todo el complejo proceso, su parte favorita siempre había sido la escritura del guion, aunque esta siempre se veía limitada por el presupuesto de la realización. En 2020, durante la pandemia, le surgió una pregunta: ¿Por qué no probar a escribir una historia sin las ataduras de la posterior grabación? Así empezó a esbozar su primera novela: Tokio bajo el monzón. La buena aceptación de esta lo llevó a concebir las siguientes: Okinawa y Melonpan.
