Often if I back up one scene I can figure out where I went wrong.

If I'm not sure where to take the story next, I get out pen and paper and make a list of my character's options and the pros and cons of each. Usually one idea on the list will strike me as being more fun or "right". Sometimes, I combine two options.(less)

Solid Terry Pratchett stuffed with both old characters and new. This time we got to meet more of the staff at Unseen University, especially Glenda and Juliet from the Night Kitchen and Trevor and the mysterious Mister Nutt from the candle-makers.

Another lovely Penric and Desdemona novella, though Cinar is very much the main character who must change. The writing is always so smooth, the characters and world very real.

A drowning dystopic fantasy with body swapping magic, dark academia and spy missions. Interesting characters and good action scenes with lots of reversals. A strong ending with the promise of more.
