Juggling and prioritizing writing
It’s currently after midnight on a beautiful Friday night and I’m finishing up some edits before “lights out”.
Something I struggled with a lot, maybe still struggle with sometimes, is prioritizing writing/editing my manuscripts on a day to day. Now, I know everyone lives a different life and no two lives are the same. I’m a stay at home mom on maternity leave so my first and foremost priority is my growing baby. That being said, my baby is under one which means on an average day she naps twice. If the house is decently clean and I feel comfortable enough to sit down with a cup of coffee during her morning nap, then fantastic but that is not always the case.
The average new writer is still working a full-time job to make ends meat and be able to afford things like groceries and bills. So writing for you is either before or after work, if you still have enough energy and the day didn’t suck it all out of you.
I find that planning my day the night beforehand works very well for my writing needs and it may or may not work for your own schedule. I’m also a very strong believer in listening to your body. There are periods where I don’t write or look at my manuscripts for days because the world around me with my baby and my home are too busy and that is OK. If I’m not able to fully concentrate on my writing, I won’t produce the best that I know I can.
From what I see online from writers, new writers especially and folks who are trying to finish their manuscripts to publish, they are so focused on writing a specific number of words a day and if they don't, they think their failing. I’m here to say that’s definitely not the case! The ‘rule’ for “writing a certain amount of words a day is not a “one type fits all” because every brain and body is different.
That being said, and trying not to contradict myself above, that doesn’t mean stop pushing yourself and your goals. The hard part is knowing when your pushing too hard. A great manuscript, one that will become a bestseller and people on the street will chat about at their local coffee and bookstores, will not come from a sleep deprived, stressed, over-worked mind. It will come from a mind that is at peace and focused, and most of all, relaxed.
On that note, this is Violet M. Bauer, signing off for the night.

Writing Now, Writing Then, Writing Always
To the struggling first time writer,
When I was a child, I had the best penmanship in my class, hands down. I was always so neat, and I perfected each curl while handwriting while the other struggled. But just because I was good at it early on, didn't mean I liked to do it.
As I got older, my love for reading grew stronger. In high school I was in the library lots with one of my best friends because she shared the same passion for books I did.
Now, I'm 24 years old, I have a beautiful baby girl. With COVID destroying our lives, a new baby and a new house, I didn't even read a lot. Life was just busy, TOO busy. A year after COVID and the world shutting down around me, I thought it was time to get back into the swing of things to help me mentally. I needed more ME time again.
Your ordinary author might tell you the story about writing their books with the good ol' pen and paper. Not me, I carried around my ipad, my phone, my laptop. Typing was just easier. Though I liked jotting down ideas and notes about my stories in a book, the actually writing was always digital.
Now that I'm on the jist of pushing that 'publish' button for my very first novel. I've been on a writing rampage. The first book, my most loved book, was the hardest, and getting over the writers block hump (many times) added onto the toughness of finishing.
What I'm trying to say, is don't stop. Take breaks if you need, especially if life gets in the way, but never stop writing. Get over your first book hump by pushing through, all the way to the end. Because I promise you that one day when you're sitting there looking at your beautifully finished manuscript, you'll be so glad you didn't stop.
Write now, write then, write always.

Lacadia #1 In The Making
Hey Everyone!
I am new to the writing community and new to Goodreads, but i am SO excited to be here and see where this goes. I have offically completed my very first novel called Lacadia, The Lost Legacy. It's the first book in a fantasy series.
This book means so much to me for so many reason and my biggest dream is that you guys love it to. Find the description on the books page and hit 'to-read' so you can grab it when it comes out September 5th this year!
Okay, anyways. This book was my introductory book to writing. It was the first time I had completed something so big, even though the novel itself is smaller. I'm about half way through writing the second and I can tell its going to be much much bigger than the first.
Hit the follow button and keep up to date on all my novels to come. I have about three more on the go right now outside of the fantasy series that I think you guys will love. Theres lots of romance, mystery, time travel and one of them even has some murder involved. #crimebooks.
