Recently I can't stop thinking about it - the plot for a new book is coming together pretty much in spite of myself. It was never my intention to build a food crime niche in the literary world, but it looks like that's where things are headed.(less)

Poppy Koval I go to locations I'm unfamiliar with. It wakes my brain up from auto-pilot mode, and that's when I'm able to fully take in new information, make conn…moreI go to locations I'm unfamiliar with. It wakes my brain up from auto-pilot mode, and that's when I'm able to fully take in new information, make connections, and be creative.

I also force myself to go to social events (I'm an introvert). Listening to other people's stories and seeing how their minds work - seeing how *different* other people are from how I am - always inspires me to want to explore those differences in writing.(less)
