Pradeep Bashyal is the BBC journalist and author, known for his debut book 'SHERPA: Stories of Life and Death from the Forgotten Guardians of Everest' (Octopus, Hachette UK). SHERPA is also available in Italian and Czech language edition. It was shortlisted for 2023 'Boardman Tasker Prize for Mountain Literature'.

In 2025, Nepal Government has awarded him 'Tenzing-Hillary Award' for his contribution to mountain literature. In 2024, Online Khabar, Nepal's leading media outlet, listed Bashyal among its 40 most influential youths under 40 years old. He lives in Kathmandu.
