A.S.R. Gelpi was writing fantasy stories since twelve (mainly to entertain friends and scare teachers) but put her writing aside to pursue her academic dreams, including a Ph.D. But she's back, better than ever, putting her love of literature and her lifelong passion for fantasy into creating the worlds where "The Dandelion Chronicles" stories take place. With her love of the fantastic shining through in her work, she has created complex characters, worlds with depth and lore, and stories that grab readers and don’t let go. She hopes to inspire a new generation of fantasy lovers with her unique and realistic epic fantasy stories.

Sadly, there are very few records past 1695 for them (destroyed by fires and pirates), which means that the imagination would have to take over after extensive research (which I've done). There are holes we can't fill, and stories lost to the sands of time, but perhaps...(less)

Donna Tartt’s The Secret History is one of those rare novels that completely pulls you into its atmosphere and refuses to let go. I finished it in about three days, which says a lot about how gripping it is.

For a debut novel, The Poet Empress is impressive. Shao Ten’s prose is lyrical and assured, and the premise immediately hooked me. Let me start by saying this clearly is not romantasy, despite marketing that might suggest otherwise. There is a faint ...more

“Watching a tree is not enough to make one a gardener,” Hillal said. “The work needed to grow one is the training: tending to the seeds, the roots, watering, pruning, harvesting its fruit. Even making a hole in the ground is gardening, for the soil must be right. Spiritual growth is similar. It is not simply about the location where one trains. The physical roads and the challenges of reaching a destination become part of the exercise.”

“Our language has wisely sensed these two sides of man’s being alone. It has created the word “loneliness” to express the pain of being alone. And it has created the word “solitude” to express the glory of being alone.”
