“Tanna caught the last glimpse of Jupiter through the dome above. “If only they could see from here,” she said. “Their sole point of view is from the surface of their world. That limited perspective creates arrogance. For them, the land and waters of Earth are everything. So, having climbed their highest mountains and crossed their widest seas, they think themselves kings.”
“You’re right,” said Eros. “The view from space makes it clear; your entire world is a tiny place. You stand on one of billions of planets, surrounded by emptiness. You are living on a spec, drifting in a vast cosmic sea. Insignificant.”
“Space makes one humble,” said Tanna. “Should this trifling world be allowed to destroy everything? The question itself is foolish. Almost as foolish as the Earth people who have forced us to ask it.”
Bret Nelson, Plan 9 From Outer Space: The Novelization

“Despite the best efforts of concerned beings across the universe, just twelve bellenchuffs remained. And now they had to kill one.”
Bret Nelson, Lumber and Other Tales

“At some point in their lives, everyone in the world has murder cross their minds,” said Chandler. “Your mum, the Vicar, everyone. Passes quickly, for most. But for some, a tiny number, the idea sticks. Keeps them up at night. And a tiny number of those people go and do it. Some in the moment, some plan it out. Doesn’t matter. They all get caught. The get caught because they’ve all got the same problem once it’s done - the victim. A big, dead receipt for your transaction. And if there’s a body, there’s going to be an investigation. No matter how careful you thought you were, there will be something that leads the investigators right to you. But it’s near impossible to prove there was a murder without a corpse.”
