Introduction
Hello, boils and ghouls! It's your neighborhood word witch here just stopping by to introduce myself...
I am a poet and artist in Church Point, Louisiana. I began writing when I was just nine years old, and I had my first poem featured in the Amherst Society's American Poetry Annual anthology in 1996.
I put writing aside for several years, focusing more on art. I was featured in several local art shows, and I also vended at a few different comic con events. After many years of devoting all my attention to art, I decided it was time to shift back to writing.
Once I began writing, it was like a dam had burst and the words just poured forth as easily as I breathe. I immediately started working on putting together my debut collection of poetry, and on April 13th, 2023, I self-published that book which is titled Melba Toast Butterfly: A Poem a Day for a Year.
While I was writing Melba Toast Butterfly, I was approached by Matthew McConkey who wanted to feature a poem of mind in a Halloween anthology that he was working on. I agreed and "Monster Mind" was published in Just About Sundown in 2022.
Since that anthology and my debut poetry collection have come out, I've been focusing on gathering material for my next book as well as entering writing contests in the hopes of putting my work out there in a larger scope. One piece that I wrote called "Hoary Homage" received Honorable Mention in Tulip Tree Publishing's 2023 Stories That Need to be Told contest as well as publication in the annual anthology.
I look forward to what my writing career might hold for me, and I also look forward to sharing more of my work with everyone.
If you've read my book, a review would be greatly appreciated, and if you haven't read my book, it would mean the world to me if you would. Who knows? You might find something in there that means something to you.
