Not one to believe extraordinary claims, she eventually started piecing together the breadcrumbs of evidence that led to spirituality, God, conspiracies, and the esoteric world of the occult. Now an ex-atheist and Christian Gnostic, April writes books to share her newly found "secret" knowledge with the world; through a uniquely skeptical and well-evidenced approach. ...more

It's an excellent introductory Latin text (beginners should have no problems with it). However, I found the story to be a bit too preachy and socially progressive (which was expected going in given the synopsis). Regardless, it's enjoyable to read an ...more

“If your science contradicts your religion, you’ve either got bad science or bad religion.”
April Papke, Religion for Skeptics: An Ex-Atheist's Guide to Spirituality

“There is uncertainty there. Anxiety, worries, a lack of confidence in your beliefs and views. The “leap” into a new worldview is always one that starts with rocky ground and unsteady footing. It has to, by its very nature.”
April Papke, Religion for Skeptics: An Ex-Atheist's Guide to Spirituality

“What if I’m wrong?” This is the question that runs through the mind of a skeptic. It’s important to go over the arguments and thought process time and time again, reaffirming that it’s logical, sound, evidenced, and is a proper conclusion to our observations and science. This is the seed that will eventually grow into a more proper faith.”
April Papke, Religion for Skeptics: An Ex-Atheist's Guide to Spirituality

“If your science contradicts your religion, you’ve either got bad science or bad religion.”
April Papke, Religion for Skeptics: An Ex-Atheist's Guide to Spirituality

“The first gulp from the glass of natural sciences will turn you into an atheist, but at the bottom of the glass God is waiting for you.”
Werner Heisenberg

“God never wrought miracle to convince atheism, because his ordinary works convince it. It is true, that a little philosophy inclineth man’s mind to atheism; but depth in philosophy bringeth men’s minds about to religion.”
Francis Bacon, The Essays

“So many things are possible just as long as you don't know they're impossible.”
Norton Juster, The Phantom Tollbooth

“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.”
Bernard M. Baruch
