Ann Parker earned degrees in Physics and English Literature at the University of California, Berkeley, before taking up a career as a science writer. These days, she slings science and technical verbiage for a living during the day and writes fiction at night.

Ann's ancestors include a great-grandfather who was a blacksmith in Leadville, a grandmother who worked at the bindery of Leadville's Herald Democrat newspaper, a grandfather who was a Colorado School of Mines professor, and another grandfather who worked as a gandy dancer on the Colorado railroads. MORTAL MUSIC (Silver Rush #7) is out and about

... Let the curtain rise and the music begin!

In this latest book of the Silver Rush series, my protagonist Inez Stannert deals with dastardly doings in the opera world of 1881 San Francisco.
If you'd like to hear some of the music that appears in Mortal Music and a sample of tunes from earlier Silver Rush books, you can check out a recent guest post I wrote for the "Type M for Murder" blog. Read more of this blog post »

Raymond Chandler
“There was a desert wind blowing that night. It was one of those hot dry Santa Anas that come down through the mountain passes and curl your hair and make your nerves jump and your skin itch. On nights like that every booze party ends in a fight. Meek little wives feel the edge of the carving knife and study their husbands' necks. Anything can happen. You can even get a full glass of beer at a cocktail lounge.”

Ann Parker Hello Rosemary!
Thank you! I love to hear that readers are "taken away" for a while when they read my books. I consider that the highest compliment! :-)
Here's hoping your mother enjoys the next two as well...

Rosemary Ann, my mother, who is staying with me to recover from hip surgery, absolutely loves Silver Lies! She is enjoying lots of reading time, and I'm enjoying sharing great books with her. Now, it's time to add Iron Ties and Leaden Skies to our home library. Thanks for brightening up Mama's days.

Rosemary Ann, what a delight to see you on Goodreads! I hope we meet up at the HNS conference in June.
